The following e-journals and databases are available to the members of MIDS.  Access to these resources are restricted to domain only.

Districts of India  is owned by Datanet India.  Districts of India is a store house of authentic socio economic district level statistical information for the country. Out of 642 districts of India as per the census 2011, the statistical data for 620 districts for all the categories have been presented on site.


JSTOR is one of the scholarly journal archive for providing electronic access to the journals for higher learning academic institutions and research libraries.  JSTOR's collection include many of the important journals in economics, political science, sociology, humanities and social sciences.  The Ford Foundation has chosen our Institute as one of the recipients for institution-wide access to JSTOR's multi-discipline collections for three years.  This facility can be accessed from the following link at MIDS. 


EconLit is a database with more than 1 million articles, abstracts and citations mainly on the subjects of economics and to a lesser extent business administration.  It includes coverage of over 400 major journals as well as articles in collective volumes (essays, proceedings, etc.), books, book reviews, dissertations and working papers licensed from the Cambridge University Press. Various publications are full text available. The database contains articles dating back to 1886 and is continuously updated.


The Economic and Political Weekly (EPW) is a Indian magazine published from Mumbai by the Sameeksha Trust.  It publishes original research and analysis on economics, political, sociology and history and knows for its strong editorial stands having social conscience.


The EPW Research Foundation (EPWRF) has built up expertise in important areas of economic research and analysis. The Foundation has been focusing on a systematic compilation and dissemination of current and long-term data series on the macro-economy, as also various economic, social and demographic sectors.


Economic Outlook

Economic Outlook provides a comprehensive and integrated view of the Indian economy. Time series on more than a 100,000 indicators are provided in multiple frequencies and in the form of several derivations. All these are presented in intelligently laid-out tabulations. Tabulations are supported with readymade graphics and also a graphing tool. The data can be easily downloaded into spreadsheets or as csv files.


The Economist is an English-language weekly newspaper owned by the Economist Group and edited in offices in London. It offers authoritative insight and opinion on international news, politics, business, finance, science and technology.


Shodhganga: A reservoir of Indian Theses. The Shodhganga @ INFLIBNET Centre provides a platform for research students to deposit their Ph.D. theses and make it available to the entire scholarly community in open access.


Third World Quarterly (TWQ) is the leading journal of scholarship and policy in the field of international studies. For more than two decades, it has set the agenda on development discourses of the global debate. As the most influential academic journal covering the emerging worlds, TWQ is at the forefront of analysis and commentary on fundamental issues of global concern. Third World Quarterly examines all the issues that affect the many Third Worlds as we enter the threshold of the Third Millennium 


Science and Society is a peer-reviewed interdisciplinary journal of Marxist scholarship. It publishes original studies in political economy and the economic analysis of contemporary societies; social and political theory; philosophy and methodology of the natural and social sciences; history, labor, ethnic and women's studies; aesthetics, literature and the arts. 

South Asia: Journal of South Asian Studies is a refereed journal which provides a forum for scholarly research, comment and discussion on the history, society, economy, culture and international relations of the South Asian region, drawing on a range of disciplines from the humanities and social sciences.


Human Organization is the peer-reviewed research journal of the Society for Applied Anthropology. Published quarterly since 1941, it is the second-longest continuously published journal in cultural anthropology in the United States. Its primary objective is to analyze practical human problems through the application of anthropological theory and data. The journal regularly features articles on human rights, public health and medical care, and indigenous knowledge and management of natural resources.



The Review of Economics and Statistics  is a 96-year-old general journal of applied (especially quantitative) economics edited at the Harvard Kennedy School. The Review has published some of the most important articles in empirical economics. From time to time, The Review also publishes collections of papers or symposia devoted to a single topic of methodological or empirical interest.
