Every
year the Indian
Council of Social
Science Research (ICSSR)
is sponsoring four
students for
carrying out their Ph.D.
degree in Social
Sciences.
Eligibility:
Doctoral fellowships are
open to persons
preferably below the age
of 35 (relaxable by 5
years in case of SC/ST), who have a
Master's degree of a recognised University
with a first or high
second class with 55% of
marks in Social Science
Degree. Candidates must
have cleared the
National Education Test
(NET) of the UGC [or] M
Phil [or] Two years of
research experience with
publications.
Candidates who got JRF
from UGC can also apply.
They have to apply for
fellowship directly to
UGC. Reservation
as per UGC norms. The
successful candidate
will have to be
registered under the
supervision of one of
the faculty members of
the Institute.

Economics / Sociology /
Political Science
Duration: The
duration of the
fellowships for student
category will be for a
maximum period of 3
years and for teaching
scholar will be of 2
years.
Value of the Fellowship: As approved by ICSSR (Students) the value of the fellowship amount for the first two years will be of Rs. 16,000/= per month with a contingency of Rs. 10,000/= per year. For the third year the fellowship will be of Rs. 18,000/= per month with a contingency of Rs. 20,500/= per year.
Salary protection
fellowship will be given
for teaching scholars
for a maximum duration
of two years and will
not be extended under
any circumstances.
