Malcolm and Elizabeth
Adiseshiah Ph.D. Merit
Scholarship, was
created to provide
training and facilities
for talented researchers
to pursue high-quality
academic research
dedicated to development
issues in Tamil Nadu.
Area of Research:
The scholar is to be
chosen from any social
science discipline, on
the basis of
demonstrated academic
competence and interest
in the field of
political, economic or
social development in
Tamil Nadu.
Eligibility: (1)
M.Phil degree in social
sciences (relaxable only
in exceptional cases);
(2) The successful
candidate will have to
be registered under the
supervision of one of
the faculty members of
the Institute.
Duration: The
fellowship will be
available for a maximum
period of 3 years. The
selected scholar will be
taken as an intern for
the first year of the
programme and the
renewal of the
scholarship will be
subject to satisfactory
performance in research
in the six-monthly
assessment of the
Institute
Value of Fellowship:
To the successful
candidate the Institute
will offer a monthly
scholarship of Rs.6000
and a Contingency Grant
of Rs.12,000 per annum.
