Certificate Programme in Research Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning for Development
(RMEL4DEV)
The RMEL4DEV programme offers a rigorous and practice-oriented learning experience designed to address the growing need for effective monitoring, evaluation, and learning systems in the development sector. This six-month intensive course enables professionals to build technical expertise, engage with real-world development challenges, and strengthen their ability to design, measure, and improve social impact.

- To strengthen the capacity of organisations and institutions to assess impact and improve programme effectiveness
- To foster evidence-based decision-making and adaptive learning within the development ecosystem

Programme Structure and Courses
The RMEL4DEV programme is structured over six months and includes foundational, technical, and applied learning components. The curriculum blends theory with practice to equip participants with relevant and current tools and methodologies.

- Foundations & Theory of Change
- Social Research Methods
- Quantitative Methods I : Design & Sampling
- Quantitative Methods II: Experiments & Measurement
- Qualitative & Mixed Methods
- Setting up MEL systems
- R & PowerBI Labs
- nVIVO/Taguette Labs
- Capstone Project / Field-based Evaluation Study
Faculty from MIDS, along with distinguished visiting experts from academia, government, and the development sector, will deliver the courses.
Programme Delivery
- Six-month hybrid programme - 8-10 hours per week through a dedicated LMS
- Combination of lectures, case studies and workshops
- Hands-on training through assignments, simulations, and real-world datasets
- Capstone projects in collaboration with development organisations
Intake: 35 participants

The programme follows a highly interactive and applied teaching approach, including:

Evaluation:
- Continuous assessment through assignments and participation

Duration of the Course: Six months (July 2026 to January, 2027)
Eligibility:
Candidates with a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in any discipline from a recognised institution are eligible to apply. Professionals from government, non-profits, research organisations, and the private sector are encouraged to apply.
