MIDS is a leading Social Science Research Institute funded jointly by the ICSSR, Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu, conceived and founded by Prof. Malcom S. Adiseshiah, a renowned development economist and educationist, in 1971. MIDS is engaged in analytical and policy research in different branches of social sciences, carried out by members of the faculty and Ph.D scholars. MIDS is looking for a Director. The Director should be a distinguished social scientist with scholarly achievements and administrative capabilities. He/She will be appointed by the Governing Council of MIDS, on the basis of the recommendation from the Search Committee for a term of five years with the possibility of a second term, subject to superannuation on the date of completion of 65 years of age. The position is in the rank of UGC Professor with additional emoluments applicable to the position.
